Following 3 years of Covid-19 restrictions, we are back with a small change, and we are looking forward to welcoming you all once more!!

Over the last 18 months we have redeveloped our athletic club grounds (see attached photo) and had our official opening earlier this month (Sunday the 04.09.2022), so this year’s event will be a trail run on the outer cinder track, as opposed to our previous cross country meet. Athletes to wear runners only, with no spikes or football boots allowed.

St. Brigid’s Athletic Club is hosting the Geraldine Dolan Memorial Trail Run on Tuesday the 11th of October 2022, at our club grounds adjacent to the St Brigid’s GFC pitch. There will be signs put up to help with directions – so please look out for them.

We intend commencing the first race at 11.00 am, with the final race set to be completed by 12.30 pm. There are races for minor girls and boys up to senior girls and boys. We will look to have all individual and team presentations completed by 1.30 pm, including the Geraldine Dolan Perpetual Cup to the best overall school.

The age groups are broken down as follows:
Minor – Under 14 on the 1st of July in the year of competition – i.e., 2022
Junior - Under 15 on the 1st of July in the year of competition – i.e., 2022
Intermediate - Under 17 on the 1st of July in the year of competition – i.e., 2022
Senior - Under 19 on the 1st of July in the year of competition – i.e., 2022

I have attached a letter of invitation for all secondary schools, along with an order of events.

Athletes must run in their own age group except in a team event where ONE athlete from the age group immediately below may complete a team. No athlete may run in more than one race.

Prizes to be presented to the first 3 individuals and first 3 teams in each race, while individual and team points will be allocated with the best overall school receiving the Geraldine Dolan Perpetual Cup.

Entry Fee €2.00 per athlete.

I would be grateful if you could please advise us of your participation at your earliest convenience.
